These popular Sloppy Joe sandwiches will bring back fond memories for you! My mother made this dish, and everyone loves it!
1 pound lean ground beef
¼ cup chopped onion
¼ cup chopped green bell pepper
¾ cup ketchup, or to taste
1 tablespoon brown sugar, or to taste
1 teaspoon yellow mustard, or to taste
½ teaspoon garlic powder
salt and ground black pepper to taste
6 hamburger buns, split
- big skillet should be heated at medium. Lean ground beef should be cooked and stirred in a heated skillet for 3 to 4 minutes, or until some fat begins to render. Add the onion and bell pepper, and simmer for an additional 3 to 5 minutes, or until the veggies are tender and the meat is thoroughly cooked.
- Salt and pepper to taste; mix in ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and garlic powder. Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes on low heat.
- Distribute the meat mixture equally among the buns.
